My obituary for my friend Pip O'Neill is now up at the Guardian in their Other Lives section. I hope it captures a little of her wonderful wise spirit. You can read it here.
Thank you for the touching obituary you wrote for Philippa, whose death I found out about today. She took me on as a new patient earlier this year, shortly after I had surgery for breast cancer. She was a great listener, a calm, caring presence and - I now realise - a very brave woman. My heart goes out to her friends and family.
I have also found out yesterday by reading the obituary that Phillipa has died. I was her patient and feel very touched by her untimely death. She was so full of life, cycling everywhere... and a very supportive and caring homeopath. I saw her about 2 mnths ago and just can't believe she is not here anymore. I do hope you find comfort in all the good memories you must have of her and in her example of bravery.
Thank you for commenting. Pip was all of these things and has died too young and too soon. She chose to live as normally as possible and was able to do that till the last few weeks. She died peacefully, surrounded with love. She's irreplaceable.
'a woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction' Virginia Woolf
Well I have very little money and no room for writing. So I've created a virtual writing room. Here you'll see examples of my own writing - fiction, poetry, reviews, critical analysis. I'll also be plugging other people's work and from time to time introducing you to some of my brilliant writing friends. Pull up a chair, switch on the lamp, and I hope that you enjoy what you read.
I'm a forty something writer from Oxford. I have written a number of short stories and am currently working on a novel, Echo Hall. I am also developing a TV script.
I have had pieces published on-line for the Guardian's Comment is Free webpages. I have had articles in Peace News and The Church Times. I blog for Peace News.
Fiction
I have had several stories published in on-line journals, including, One Million Stories Project, Evolve Journal and blankpages (run by Blank Media). I have had stories published in One Million Stories Creative Writing Anthology 2010, One Million Stories Creative Writing Anthology 2011 and Inside (A Blank Media Publication).
